WHO WE While the Barbary Coast
is one of San Francisco's oldest neighborhoods, our Association is one of the
newest neighborhood groups in the City. Our area, one of the
most population-dense districts in San Francisco, has an estimated 10,000
people residing or working here in the Barbary Coast. Within our boundaries
you'll find a mixture of condos, apartment buildings, and myriad businesses.
Three beautiful parks, to-die-for views of the Bay, and pedestrian-friendly
streets make this a highly desirable neighborhood. We want to keep it that
way. And that's why our Barbary Coast Neighborhood Association was created. We're happy to know of
your interest in our Association and hope you'll find a committee or project
that attracts your attention. Committees range from the serious to the fun:
Events, Finance, Liaison (with other Associations), Marketing/Publicity, Membership,
Neighborhood Safety and Waterfront Action. OUR MISSION STATEMENT ·
To bring about
information exchange, cooperation and united action among the residents,
property owners and workers of the Barbary Coast. ·
To beautify
and improve the Barbary Coast neighborhood ·
To encourage a
friendly association among residents. ·
To protect our
neighborhood's basic character, building scale, and open space. ·
To maintain
the quality of life in our neighborhood. ·
To perpetuate
the historic traditions of the neighborhood's place in San Francisco history. ·
To monitor the
actions of city government and other public agencies which affect our neighborhood. |
